Microsoft revealed the news just a day before the update drops and has thanked the PC community for their continued patience. They also detailed some of the biggest titles now available to play for Xbox Game Pass PC subscribers.
The Xbox Game Pass Library Continues to Grow
Microsoft and EA have worked closely together since last year to include EA Play in the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Originally, Microsoft was to make EA Play available for Xbox Game Pass PC subscribers back in December. This is a month after making it available for Xbox Game Pass console subscribers. Unfortunately, on the day they were supposed to make EA Play one of the latest perks on the Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft announced that they will be moving its release date to a later unspecified date in 2021 instead. While no exact release date was announced then, Microsoft has now made EA Play available for Xbox Game Pass PC or Ultimate subscribers. Once the EA Play update goes live, Xbox Game Pass subscribers on the PC only need to download the Xbox app for Windows 10 and EA Desktop app. After that, it’s pretty straightforward. The addition of EA Play on Xbox Game Pass is huge for players on the Xbox consoles and the PC. It gives them access to some of the best games in EA’s catalog. This includes hit titles like Titanfall 2, as well as the entire The Sims franchise and Star Wars: Squadrons. Aside from the titles we’ve mentioned, an EA Play subscription also lets you trial more recent releases like FIFA 21 for up to 10 hours.
What’s Next for the Xbox Game Pass?
Microsoft’s most recent moves have turned the Xbox Game Pass into the go-to subscription service for budget-conscious players. With a library consisting of hundreds of the best games out there, the Xbox Game Pass monthly fee is a no-brainer. Because of their recent acquisitions, Xbox Game Pass now has all the noteworthy Bethesda titles released in recent years. The library now even has an upcoming title in Outriders with plenty more to follow in the weeks to come. With that said, Sony isn’t one to let themselves be outdone either. So far, Sony has given away the likes of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Oddworld: Soulstorm to PS Plus subscribers. Sony has also added 2016’s Ratchet & Clank reboot and Horizon: Zero Dawn as part of their Play at Home 2021 initiative to literally everyone who has a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. Considering the number of titles being given away for free in recent months, gamers now sit on a backlog of more titles than they can count, with even more probably coming sooner rather than later.
