Blizzard Entertainment confirmed the good news in a live-streamed announcement while also revealing the equally exciting expansion for World of Warcraft, Dragonflight. According to the developers, Wrath of the Lich King will be available in Classic sometime later this year. Those who are interested can already opt-in for the beta. Classic has successfully run alongside the main version of the MMORPG, bringing audiences back to simpler times. After taking gamers on a trip pre-The Burning Crusader, the off-shoot has since made the game’s first expansion available. Now that Wrath of the Lich King is also on its way, all bets are off as to which expansion Classic will welcome next. However, just like with The Burning Crusader, Classic is also making several changes to Wrath of the Lich King and Northrend. Blizzard is introducing a barbershop to give players more character customization options. The developers will also let players create and start a Death Knight class character starting at level 55 “sometime before” the expansion is released. Finally, Blizzard is adding a level 70 boost for players who want to skip Burning Crusade Classic and go straight to Lich King, with the level cap now raised to 80. Unlike Activision, which can’t seem to avoid controversy, Blizzard is in a much better place. Although Blizzard continues to struggle to juggle the multiple games it has in development, the fan-favorite studio has provided updates in recent months. Case in point, fans are now looking forward to the Overwatch 2 beta on April 26. Meanwhile, Blizzard is also working on a World of Warcraft mobile game as well as its first new IP in years and at least one more secret project. With the Microsoft acquisition looming over its head, we’re hoping that Blizzard can find a way to distance itself from the issues surrounding Activision.
