Unlike other delays though, Watch Dogs: Legion has already been released. It already made its way to multiple platforms back in October 2020. However, the game’s multiplayer component was scheduled to make its way later on. Specifically, the four-player co-op multiplayer mode would’ve launched some time in 2021. Unfortunately, according to their official statement on Twitter, they had no choice but to delay multiplayer mode.

When Is the Watch Dogs Legion Multiplayer Mode Release Date?

Technically, the multiplayer mode for Watch Dogs: Legion won’t be delayed in its entirety. Instead, the online component will launch as promised on March 2021. By then, players will be able to share progress between their single-player and multiplayer modes. However, the co-operative missions designed for 4 players, titled Tactical Ops, won’t be making their way until much later on. The 4-player co-op mode of Watch Dogs Legion is set to launch on March 23 on all platforms, with Ubisoft warning that the in-game text chat at launch will be limited for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game. Luckily, players on the PS4 and PS5 won’t have to wait too long for the in-game text chat fix. Ubisoft promises that they’ll release a fix on March 23. With that said, it’s not all good news either. While the multiplayer mode for the console versions of Watch Dogs: Legion will release as planned, the PC version will be delayed indefinitely. According to Ubisoft, the delay is the result of certain graphics cards causing the game to crash for some players. If it’s any consolation though, an indefinite delay doesn’t mean that it won’t come. Instead, it only means that Ubisoft doesn’t want to be making promises they can’t keep. They did, however, assure fans that they will “communicate the new launch date as soon as possible.”

What Is The Watch Dogs Legion Multiplayer Mode Gameplay Like?

Legion’s online multiplayer gameplay consists of three different modes: Tactical Ops, Spiderbot Arena, and Invasion. Of the three, only Invasion is not new. This familiar mode involves spawning into another player’s game as an innocent NPC with the goal of hacking the other player and stealing their data without getting caught. It is then up to hacked players to try and find which NPC the invader, you, is, before you can get away. The other two, Tactical Ops and Spiderbot Arena, are totally unique to the game. The former involves having players explore London together as they complete missions, which will reportedly test their “efficiency and communication”. Meanwhile, the latter is an eight-player PvP mode where players can let their own Spiderbots battle it out.

What’s Next for Watch Dogs Legion?

In other news, Ubisoft did not confirm if Bloodline is still going to arrive to Watch Dogs: Legion as planned. Watch Dogs: Legion is a DLC pack for Watch Dogs: Legion that’s scheduled for 2021 and it will come with tons of new content for the game. This includes a new mission storyline featuring the appearance of four new characters. Among those four include Aiden Peace from the first Watch Dogs game, Wrench from Watch Dogs 2 and Darcy, from the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The last character to make an appearance in Bloodline is Mina. This brand new character will reportedly have the power to control the minds of others. In addition to Bloodline, Ubisoft also promised more content for Watch Dogs: Legion in the form of additional characters and abilties. A new mode, New Game Plus, is also expected to arrive soon, which will allow players to retain all their progress after completing the game.
