Who knew Street Fighter could get so vibrant. During Sony’s State of Play, a recent showcase of the game revealed a colorful yet hard-hitting Street Fighter 6 gameplay.
The upcoming installment seems to have a couple of new features and two new modes while still retaining the classic street fighter experience in the Fighting Ground mode. The first mode is dubbed the World Tour, which is an immersive single-player story experience where you take control of your own fighting character. It’s not been confirmed whether a fixed protagonist or a custom-tailored character will be used. The World Tour also shows your character in an open world setting running around the streets fighting people. A street fighter game with actual street fighting? Now that’s new! Open-world is a brand new concept in a street fighter game. It’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out. The announcement trailer seems to heavily focus on a new character called Luke, a hooded muscular MMA-inspired character hell-bent on fighting. Perhaps he could be the protagonist of the World Tour mode? Only time will tell. Luke has been seen as a final DLC character in the previous installment and was hinted to play a significant role in the games moving forward. The second exciting mode introduced is called the Battle Hub, which is designed to bring the fighters together in one space. Battle Hub sounds like a typical hub area where players can come and meet new people. The Battle Hub is designed to further expand on the open-world concept to broaden the scope of player communication. Street Fighter 6 is set to release in 2023.
