Showrunner Steve Blackman confirmed this in a recent interview with THR. Here’s what Blackman had to say about the future of The Umbrella Academy. For what it’s worth, Blackman’s been pretty consistent with his statements about when The Umbrella Academy is ending. But, since Netflix still hasn’t confirmed Season 4, we shouldn’t our hopes up until we receive official word. For now, let’s just talk about the ending of Season 3. If you’re still left reeling following the cliffhanger ending, you’re not alone. The latest season of The Umbrella Academy left things vague because we’re not quite sure if the new world that the team has created is better or worse. For one, the team has no powers anymore and they’re missing a few members. To make matters worse, the team’s vengeful father, Reginald Hargreeves, now rules over the city. If this isn’t the very definition of a nightmare, we don’t know what is. Of course, Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy left many questions unanswered and we’re hoping that the next one takes its time tying up loose ends before the series ends. Case in point, how can Luther exist without his gorilla suit padding? Is the power loss temporary or permanent or perhaps both? How will the Hargreeve siblings cope with life without powers? What exactly is Hargreeves’ ulterior motive for bringing the siblings together? As for when Umbrella Academy Season 4 will come out, we can’t really say for sure. If we’re going by how long the break was in between the first two seasons, which was more like a year and a half, we can see Umbrella Academy back for its final season by December 2023. But, again, this all hinges on Netflix and if it decides to renew the series. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about the series’ renewal soon, along with news of a potential spin-off once the main show ends in 2023 or 2024.
