The upcoming co-op shooter was originally known as Rainbow Six Quarantine when it was first revealed two years ago in 2019. The game was later rumored to have been renamed as Rainbow Six Parasite before being officially revealed as Rainbow Six Extraction at E3 2021. Despite the name changes, the basic premise of Rainbow Six Extraction will remain. It’s a co-op shooter experience that will pit a team of Operators against an otherworldly threat. It sees players going into hostile territory filled with ever-evolving threats. One thing that’s unique about Extraction though is that any Operators that fall during the operation will remain out of the action until someone else rescues them. Players will also run the risk of losing all their hard-earned abilities during a run. This should up the ante on what already is looking like a nightmarish take on the classic Rainbow Six formula. With that said, there’s a lot of information about Extraction that’s available right now. It can be hard to separate the truth from what’s not. Here’s everything we know that’s been confirmed by Ubisoft about Extraction.
Is There a Rainbow Six Extraction Trailer Available?
Yes. There is. In fact, there are multiple Extraction trailers for you to watch. However, the latest and most extensive one was released at E3 2021. The deep dive gameplay trailer (shown above) details what kind of PvE three-player co-op experience players should expect from Extraction. The trailer includes everything from the number of operators available in the game (18), maps (12), and the kinds of procedurally generated challenges, as well as infestations and enemies that players will encounter in Extraction. A lot is going on in the trailer and we recommend that you go and have a look at it yourself. However, one thing that’s made clear is that survival lies in your team’s ability to work together and make tough decisions.
When Is the Rainbow Six Extraction Release Date?
Extraction will be available to play starting on September 16, 2021. The co-op shooter will support both cross-play and cross-save at launch. It will also be available on Ubisoft Plus, the PC-exclusive online subscription service from Ubisoft that is similar to EA Play Pro and Xbox Game Pass. Extraction will be available to play on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and the PC, as well as the Google Stadia.
What is the Rainbow Six Extraction Gameplay Like?
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction is a Player-Versus-Environment spin-off based on the Outbreak mode from Rainbow Six Siege. In the said mode, instead of fighting against the vague terrorists that the game put players up against, players can team up and take on mutant AI enemies. Extraction will let you choose from 18 unique Operators that bring something different to the table. Because each team is only composed of three players, gamers will have to think hard about which Operators they choose. Knowing what abilities, gadgets, and weapons, an Operator have, as well as how it synergizes with the other Operators on the team, will play a crucial role in eliminating the alien threat that’s threatening the entirety of America. Players will be able to choose from 12 different maps set across four United States regions. To help players succeed in their missions in Extraction, players will be able to unlock powerful weapons known as React gear. Make no mistake. This includes the Apex, Tormentor, Breacher, and the Spiker. Each one will pose a different kind of challenge for players, forcing teams to adapt and use a different strategy in every encounter.
Will Rainbow Six Extraction Be a Stand-Alone Title?
Extraction might have been based on a limited-time mode for Rainbow Six Siege, but it is very much its own game. Extraction will launch as a standalone title and not as an expansion for an existing game. However, as we’ve already made clear, Extraction is a PvE title and will let players go either solo or team up in groups of three to take on parasitic alien creatures.
How Many Operations Will Rainbow Six Extraction Have?
Ubisoft has confirmed at least 18 playable Operators in the game available for Extraction. It isn’t confirmed yet if all 18 will be playable at launch or if they’ll be added to the game at a later date. Ubisoft also hasn’t revealed if more Operators are coming to Extraction down the line.
