— Prince of Persia (@princeofpersia) February 5, 2021 Based in India, Ubisoft Pune was tasked with the remastering the cut classic for modern consoles. However, the first impressions of the game left a bad taste due to poor graphics, often described as “PS3 era” visuals. Subsequently, fans of the original classic as well as the perspective young players of the upcoming remake submitted negative feedback on the teaser. It seems as if Ubisoft actually heard its player base, an increasingly rare occurrence in AAA studios, and decided to indefinitely delay the game to “deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original.” – The Dev Team Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake is Ubisoft Pune’s first full-length game. Previously, the Indian studio operated as a support studio, making assets and gameplay dynamics for bigger and more renowned western Ubisoft studios. A new, mid-scale IP, from the studio would not have faced such a backlash from a new-ish studio. However, Price of Persia is an established classic. In fact, the Assassin’s Creed franchise is the spiritual successor of Prince of Persia, so there is no room for mistakes here. Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake has so far been confirmed to release on PS4, Xbox One and PC. However, the indefinite delay may translate to a release on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X as well.
