Firaxis Games’ Marvel’s Midnight Suns, which is published by Take-Two Interactive, was supposed to be one of the big Marvel games set to come out this year - until it wasn’t. The initial announcement last year came with much hype. After all, how could an XCOM game set in the Marvel universe not be good? Unfortunately, one delay later, Marvel’s Midnight Suns is still not coming out. According to Take-Two’s recent earnings report, Marvel’s Midnight Suns isn’t launching this year. Instead, the upcoming Firaxis project won’t come out until “later this fiscal year,” which could be anytime between late 2022 through to March 31, 2023. The publisher explained that the delay is to “ensure the teams at Firaxis Games and 2K deliver the best possible experience for our fans.” TLDR; Take-Two and Firaxis aren’t confident in the Marvel’s Midnight Suns they’ll deliver in October if it didn’t delay the game. If we’re being honest, Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ delay wasn’t a big surprise. There are a lot of big games coming out later this year. The biggest one is God of War: Ragnarok. There’s also Overwatch 2, Gotham Knights, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Skull and Bones.

This isn’t to say that we don’t trust Marvel’s Midnight Suns and Firaxis Games. The XCOM series is widely considered one of the best turn-based games of all time, with an equally outstanding spin-off as well. But, if Firaxis wants to give Marvel’s Midnight Suns more time in the oven, then it can take as long as it needs. Keep in mind that a delayed game is eventually good. However, a bad game at launch will forever fight an uphill battle. Case in point, Cyberpunk 2077. By the way, we’d like to clarify something about Marvel’s Midnight Suns. As per Take-Two, the only ones guaranteed to come out by March 2023 are the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X versions. It is still not confirmed when the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions are coming. If we’re being honest, Take-Two and Firaxis should make it exclusive to current-gen consoles instead of trying to make the game run just as well on less-powerful platforms.
