Jason Momoa has been linked to the DC Universe reboot as rumors swirl that he will have his final film as Aquaman in the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Rumors suggest that the actor may be having a different role in the new DCU as the bounty hunter Lobo. However, Momoa recently met with DC Studios CEO James Gunn and Peter Safran to discuss his future in the superhero universe. The actor teased that he has “some really good news” about his future in the DCU which indicates that he is not done playing a superhero for Warner Bros. “Four years ago, I had the jeep out front… Y’all remember four years ago? I was screaming, wasn’t I?,” Momoa said in the video. “Screaming when I left Warner Bros. Everybody ready? YAHOO! Four years again. It’s a mystery, baby… I’ve got some really good news. Great news with Warner Bros. Amazing.”
— One Take News (@OneTakeNews) January 19, 2023 The actor is excited about his future in the DC Universe. The actor may have landed his dream role which is reportedly to portray the Superman villain, Lobo. Momoa ended the video by thanking Gunn, Safran, and Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. “Wish I could tell you, but here it is. Peter [Safran], I love you. James [Gunn], I love you. David [Zaslav]. Okay. To the future, to the future,” the Aquaman star said. Based on the actor’s enthusiasm in sharing the news, we can speculate that he is staying as Aquaman or taking on the role of Lobo. Either way, it will be an exciting time for the actor. The shakeup of the DC Universe saw the exit of Henry Cavill from the role of Superman. James Gunn is reportedly penning a story for a younger version of the Man of Steel, necessitating the casting of an actor who would be around the same age as the character. Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson is a one-and-done in the DC Universe as his movie didn’t do so well at the box office. The actor may also have ruffled a few feathers attempting to take charge of the studio while there was a leadership vacuum. There are also reports that the actor had a toxic relationship with Warner Bros. and had become very demanding. Ezra Miller is reportedly staying on as The Flash along with Zachary Levi’s Shazam. Robert Pattison may permanently take over the role of Batman from Ben Affleck after Matt Reeves confirmed that a sequel to his 2022 film is in the works. We are still waiting for James Gunn and Peter Safran to unveil their ten-year plan for the DC Universe which will include movies, TV shows, and video games. Gunn recently teased that he may be working with the Guardians of the Galaxy cast members at DC in the future. As for Momoa, we’ll find out more about his nth DCEU outing when Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom opens in theaters on December 25.
