However, the film’s director is not quite done. Following the success of Avatar: The Way of Water, Cameron will work on three more installments of Avatar. The visionary director has also stated he has plans for a sixth and seventh installment, although he doesn’t see himself directing those, due to his age. During a recent interview on the podcast, Soundtracking with Edith Bowman, where they discussed the Avatar franchise, Titanic, and strong women characters, Cameron revealed that the third installment in the series will be narrated by Jake Sully’s son, Lo’ak. While Cameron’s revelation seemed to have been a slip, the Oscar director recovered quickly and took it in stride. He went on to state that each of the three subsequent films will have a different character in the narrator’s seat. Here is his statement: “I’m going to take a moment when the dust clears to kind of assess what people loved and what they responded to the most in this current release, and I may go back and tinker a little bit, and we may go back and do a couple of moments here and there. It won’t be radical, but maybe fine-tune it a bit to emphasize that which people are responding to. For example, Lo’ak really emerged as a character that people went with, so I might find ways to sort of - now he’s already the narrator - oh, I’m giving away something here. But this is okay, I think it could be intriguing for people to think about what’s coming.” Lo’ak is portrayed by the 21-year-old actor Britain Dalton. He will reprise his role alongside Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, and Edie Falco, among others. New additions to the cast include Michelle Yeoh, David Thewlis, and Oona Chaplin who will portray new characters.   A post shared by Edith Bowman (@edibow) Avatar: The Way of Water is Cameron’s third film to breach $1.5-billion after the 1997 epic romance film, Titanic, as well as the first Avatar film released in 2009. He is the only director in Hollywood history with this record and, if The Way of Water breaches $2 billion, will become the only director with three films to gross over $2 billion. While Avatar 3 doesn’t have an official title at the moment, a 2018 BBC report alleged it will be tagged Avatar: The Seed Bearer. Given that the report was right about Avatar 2’s title, there is a high chance it is right about the third installment’s title as well, especially since Cameron himself has stated that The Seed Bearer is being considered as the film’s title. While nothing is known about Avatar 3’s plot at the moment, Cameron had previously revealed he will introduce a new Na’vi tribe called the Ash people. Avatar 3 is slated for release on December 20, 2024.
