Where to catch a Tuna?

You can catch the Tuna fish in an Ocean water body type at The Beach during Summer or Winter season. If you’ve already reached Ginger Island, you’re in luck, as catching Tuna is easier on Ginger Island. You can catch Tuna during any season on Ginger Island. The best locations to catch Tuna on Ginger Island are Island West, South, Southeast, and inside the Pirate Cove. As for the weather, Tuna can be caught in any weather condition and has a difficulty level of 70. Similar to Red Snapper, you also have a rare chance of finding a Tuna inside a trash can during Summer or Winter. We wouldn’t recommend digging through the trash, as you have better chances of finding a Tuna out in the ocean. The Traveling Cart also has a chance of selling the Tuna for 300g to 1,000g. The Traveling Cart spawns on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 A.M. to 8 P.M. If you have Magic Bait, you can catch Tuna at any time of the day or in any season.

What is the use of Tuna?

Like any other fish, Tuna also has several uses unique to it.

Community Center

Unlike Tiger Trout or Red Snapper, Tuna is part of two different community bundle quests required to restore the Fish Tank. Tuna is part of the Ocean Fish Bundle, like the Red Snapper. The gold variant of Tuna is part of the Quality Fish Bundle.

Recipes

There are many different recipes the Tuna is used in:

Fish Taco Maki Roll Quality Fertilizer Sashimi

Gifting

You can gift the Tuna to any NPC you want, but only a handful of them will give a neutral reaction while the rest will either dislike it or hate it. Disliking the gift will lead to a negative relationship status. So, be careful with who you gift the Tuna. The following characters can be gifted, and you won’t get any relationship change.

Demetrius Elliot Leo Linus Pam Sebastian Willy

Tailoring

Tuna can be used to create a dyeable Sailor Shirt by using the spool of the Sewing Machine at Emily’s and Haley’s house in the Town.

Fish Ponds

You can build the Fish Pond by visiting Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop. Once built, you can put your caught Tuna into the pond. The Tuna inside the pond will reproduce every three days. The initial pond capacity is 3 but can be increased by completing fish quests that are as follows:

Pond Capacity 3 to 5: Throw in 3 Driftwood, 1 Frozen Geode, or 1-2 Seaweed. Pond Capacity 5 to 7: Throw in 2 Clams or 2 Coral. Pond Capacity 7 to 10: Throw in 2 Aquamarine, 1 Mussel, or 2 Sea Urchins.

Quests

There is a chance for you to get a random single Tuna request during Summer or Winter at the community “Help Wanted” board outside Pierre’s General Store. You can fulfill the request for 300g and 150 friendship points. Similarly, Demetrius or Willy may request anywhere between one to four Tuna during Summer or Winter via the same community board outside Pierre’s General Store. You can complete the request and give them the fish. You will earn 100g per fish, potentially making up to 400g in total. The best part about this request is you get to keep the fish as a bonus. Finally, you might get an Aquatic Overpopulation quest where Demetrius will request 10 Tuna via the Special Order’s Board outside Lewis’ house during the Summer season.
