After getting its first trailer last month and a release window in July, HBO has “confirmed” when the live-action adaptation of The Last of Us is coming out and it’s pretty soon. Technically, HBO hasn’t come forward with an official announcement yet. Instead, the entry for the show on the HBO Max reveals that it will premiere on January 15. VGC later verified the source and can attest to its legitimacy. The site reports a “senior source with knowledge of the show’s release plans” corroborated the rumors and that the early listing is a mistake and an official reveal is still scheduled for later this week. Coincidentally, The Last of Us Part 1 was also leaked hours ahead of its official reveal back in June. If we go by this precedence, Naughty Dog and HBO might have little choice but to drop a new trailer while announcing the premiere date. HBO’s The Last of Us is easily one of the most anticipated shows set to hit the small screen in a few months. Now that the debut seasons of House of the Dragon and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power have ended, most if not all eyes are on the live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog’s award-winning series. Judging by earlier looks and the first trailer, HBO’s The Last of Us is a faithful take on the source material. Now that there are little more than two months to go before the world can watch it, maybe Naughty Dog can finally let us in on that rumored free-to-play multiplayer spinoff?
