If it’s any consolation, Rockstar did promise that it was going to fix GTA Trilogy and it appears that the first set of patches are now online.

Rockstar follows through initial promise with the 1.02 update

According to Rockstar, the 1.02 update for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will fix the “holes in the map” and the “issues with character models in cutscenes” as well as pretty much everything else. The fix is just the first of many that Rockstar intends to release to help improve the quality of GTA Trilogy. Rockstar explained in an earlier post that the “updated versions of these classic games did not launch in a state that meets our standards of quality, or the standards our fans have come to expect.” As a way to mitigate the fan backlash, Rockstar is giving away free copies of the classic PC versions of each of the remastered titles to everyone who owns Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on PC. At the same time, Rockstar has re-released the classic versions on the Rockstar Store, albeit as a bundle. Rockstar’s first official patch for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is off to a good start, but it would be better if Rockstar addresses the elephant in the room. At the moment, modders are hesitant to try and fix GTA Trilogy’s problems. Even if some have gone as far as to fix the rain and re-add the fog to San Andreas, more aren’t sure if fixing problems in GTA Trilogy is in their best interest. This won’t go away unless Rockstar and/or Take-Two drop their lawsuit against the modding team behind re3 and reVC, or at least clarify what is allowed and what isn’t. In the meantime, fans can re-play the originals on PC or hope that Rockstar releases more patches for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition in the next few weeks.
